Sleeping Problems? Need Help Relaxing?
Tired of Not Sleeping?
Do you have a hard time falling asleep or staying asleep? Is lack of good quality sleep affecting your daily performance? Inadequate sleep is a big problem for millions of people. Stress, hormonal imbalances and nutritional deficiencies are amongst the main reasons for poor quality sleep.
If you are not getting the amount of sleep your body requires you will not have the energy to accomplish what you want during the day. You will probably find yourself skipping things you wanted to do and having a lot of incomplete projects at work and around the house. Your lack of energy also dulls you mentally. This lack of alertness can cause you to make mistakes which can be very costly at work.
The number one reason people do not sleep well is simply stress. Whether you have pressures from work, your spouse or family, this may be affecting your ability to sleep. Or perhaps you have health conditions that are stressful and keeping you awake at night. Stress also causes an excess of the hormone cortisol in the body. Too much cortisol can cause many problems including interfering with sleep.
A tired person is often a cranky person. You know you are not yourself when you are tired. You may snap at people when generally you would be more tolerant or find yourself getting emotional when the circumstances do not warrant it.
Sleep is very important for weight maintenance. People who do not sleep well are often overweight. There are a couple of reasons for this. Tired people tend to eat the wrong things like sugary products or fast food. An excess of cortisol in the body will also cause weight gain.
How You Can Improve Your Sleep
Do not exercise for a minimum of 2 hours before you retire. Too much exercise will rejuvenate you and keep you awake. Make sure the room you sleep in is dark. The darker the room, the better the sleep. Try to avoid sleeping near TVs, computers or any electronics including cell phones. They have toxic electric magnetic fields and lights that can keep a person awake.
