The Dangers of Synthetic Vitamin E

When in doubt, always choose natural food and natural supplements.  Our bodies are not synthetic, and very seldom do they respond well to man made concoctions.

Vitamin E plays a very important role in our bodies.  It is a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent oxidative damage in our cells..  It protects fat-soluble vitamins, supports our cardiovascular system, is necessary for a strong immune system, and is very important for circulation.  We need vitamin E, but we need the right kind.

Avoid Synthetic Vitamin E

Synthetic vitamin E (dl-alpha tocopherol) is derived from petroleum.  It does not absorb well and is not very effective.  Not only that, synthetic vitamin E has known toxic effects causing numerous health problems.

According to Dr. Mercola, synthetic vitamin E may cause lung cancer and synthetic forms of vitamin E have previously been linked to increased risks of prostate cancer.

Natural Vitamin E

There are 8 different forms of vitamin E.  The most biologically active form is called “alpha-tocopherol”.  This is the most common form of natural E found in dietary supplements.

Food sources of vitamin E include vegetable oils, sunflower seeds, almonds, peanuts, avocados, spinach, swiss chard, broccoli, asparagus, beet greens and mustard greens.

GE Vitamin E

Another concern with vitamin E supplements is that many of them are now derived from plants that have been genetically altered.  Vitamin E can come from soy, maize, cotton seed, rice or wheat germ.  The majority of these crops have been modified.  Even when you buy a natural E, make sure that it is not from a GE plant.

Do not put synthetic food or supplements into your body.  You will live a longer and healthier life.
